Requirements and deadlines
The next intake is 1 October 2017 (WS 2017/18). Application portfolios for WS 2017/18 can be submitted at any time to the Secretariat, but at the latest by 4.30 p.m. on 15 September 2017. We recommend you apply early. Applicants who have not yet finished their final-year school/college examinations may apply for the respective semester with their first half-year grades from Years 12 or 13 (or Year 11 on the “G8” school programme). Applicants holding their Abitur or entrance qualification for a technical college and/or who have completed appropriate vocational training may shorten their programme or switch from another programme following assessment of their suitability.
The following formal admission requirements apply for the Communication Design study programme:
- University entrance qualification (Abitur) or
- Technical college entrance qualification or
- Realschule secondary school leaver’s certificate or equivalent
Other proof of equivalent education entitles the holder to a study place. The director of studies is responsible for granting approval. Prospective applicants who were educated abroad are requested to direct their inquiries to the Student Secretariat.
Artistic and personal suitability is evaluated by means of a portfolio of works created by the applicant, an essay and personal interviews. Given that great value is attached to the applicant’s personality, applicants are advised to contact the Academy in advance.
